Jennifer Lowe is a licensed clinical social worker who has been counseling adults, children, and families for 20+ years. Her specialties are working with adolescents and children as well as adults who struggle with depression and anxiety. She has also worked with a lot of other issues including divorce, loss, abuse, PTSD, mood disorders and marital issues. Jennifer has worked in a variety of settings including in-home crisis intervention counseling, a residential facility for adolescents, an outpatient mental health facility, a school setting, and private practice setting. She spent 7 years in private practice in Union, Missouri before moving back to the Kansas City area to be closer to extended family. She joined Dr. Whiting at Whiting and Associates in June 2014.
Jennifer graduated from William Jewell College with a BA in psychology and sociology in 1991. She received her master’s in social work through the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1993. Jennifer’s main therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral, but she utilizes individual therapeutic approaches to meet each client’s needs. She has received training in Internal Family Systems to help individuals work through unresolved traumas that may be affecting their day to day functioning.
On a personal note, when Jennifer is not helping clients make healthy changes in their lives, she enjoys staying active with her husband and two children through outdoor activities, sporting events, school functions, family gatherings and church involvement.
